About
Hello there! My name is Manchen Hu (胡满琛), and I'm a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University advised by Prof. Dan Congreve.
My research mainly focuses on bridging invisble photons with visible photons or electrons. I am interested in light-matter interaction and light-emitting devices, which require a comprehensive understanding of the interface between optics, electronics, and materials to enable optimal device performance and functionality.
I received my bachelor's degree in Optoelectronic Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, where I worked in Prof. Jiang Tang's group at Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics.

Manchen was awarded 2024 SPIE Optics and Photonics Scholarship.
2024 Optics and Photonics Scholarship by SPIE (the international society for optics and photonics) is awarded to individuals for their potential contributions to the fields of optics, photonics, or related disciplines.

Manchen was selected as a THINC Fellow 2023-2024 Cohort.
THINC is a 12-month fellowship program, which brings together a cross-disciplinary community of selected young leaders from different countries. THINC fellows come together to have intellectual discussions on technology and humanity, initiate projects with large-scale social impact, and build up an intimate network of the brightest young minds worldwide.
